This is a very fair and common question. What kind of money am I going to save by installing a salt chlorine generator compared to the other forms of chlorine to sanitize my pool? Well, once again, have no fear we are here to help you with those comparisons so you will be informed before you make your decision. To understand the comparison below, we need to understand that the chlorine generated from a Salt Chlorinator is equivalent to 100% pure gas chlorine and 12% strength pool store liquid chlorine. Typical Tri-Chlor and Cal Hypo are 89% and 65% available chlorine, respectively. Therefore, 1 lb pure chlorine from a salt chlorinator = 1 gallon liquid chlorine, 1.125 lbs of tri-chlor, or 1.5 lbs of cal hypo. This comparison does not include the initial cost of the salt chlorinator system.
